Kurt M. Armstrong
Attorney Kurt M. Armstrong is the founding member of Armstrong, Betker and Schaeffer, PLC. He has practiced law for 31 years, and, for the last 15 years focused his practice in the areas of divorce, family law and probate litigation. Mr. Armstrong is a 1978 graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law and began his service to the community by law clerking and representing senior citizens through Berrien County Legal Services. He began his private legal practice in 1983, and, since that time, has been associated with other successful attorneys.
Thomas R. Betker
Attorney Thomas R. Betker graduated summa cum laude from Western Michigan University in 1993 and from Valparaiso University School of Law with senior honors in 1996. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1996 and to the State Bar of Indiana in 1997. In his 17 years of practice, attorney Betker has assisted individuals in estate planning, real estate, criminal law and Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies. Currently, attorney Betker is particularly focused on helping people with their financial difficulties, while holding the largest bankruptcy practice in Berrien and Cass counties. He has assisted over 2,000 clients through the often complex bankruptcy process.
Attorney Gennel Laluna-Schaeffer is a 2002 graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law in Indiana. She graduated at the top third of her class and was then admitted to the Michigan State Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her practice is primarily focused in the areas of Social Security disability, criminal defense and family law. She has successfully argued appeals in the Michigan Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan and the Social Security Appeals Council. She has extensive experience in the courtroom and at administrative hearings. She is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representative (NOSSCR), the Berrien County Bar Association, the Berrien County Young Lawyers’ Association, the Executive Professional Women’s Association of Southwest Michigan and the Economics Club of Southwest Michigan.
W. Brendan Neal
W. Brendan Neal is licensed to practice in Michigan and Federal courts. His primary areas of practice are family law, civil litigation, criminal defense, probate and CPS administrative hearings. He interned at the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C. and the Montgomery County (OH) Public Defender’s Office. Brendan graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law and did his undergraduate studies at Eureka College, graduating magna cum laude with degrees in political science and history.
